Pass Me An Oscar Please…
The Oscar for the best supporting actor went to Bobby Fischer, the ill-mannered chess champion, for his role in “Better Dead Than Red.” Mr. Fischer, taking the stand of George C. Scott, failed to show up at the ceremonies, saying by telephone, “I haven't the time to fool with such nonsense.”
